MAC WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BEGIN FRIDAY AS WEEKEND WWEATHER ALTERS SCHEDULE

WILKES-BARRE –  Singles and doubles titles will be at stake when the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships are held Friday through Sunday in the Wyoming Valley. With a weekend of rain on tap, the tournament schedule has been greatly altered.

The tournament was slated to be held Saturday and Sunday at both Kirby Park and the Wilkes University Tennis Courts at Ralston Field. However, due to expected foul weather Saturday, much of the tournament will be played at the Kingston Indoor Tennis Center rather than at Kirby Park and Wilkes courts.

Doubles play has been rescheduled to begin tonight (Friday) at 6:00 p.m. and will end at approximately midnight.  The first two rounds of singles will be at Kingston Indoor starting at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, ending at approximately midnight.  Tentatively, the semi-finals and finals will be held outdoors on Sunday at the Kirby Park and Wilkes University Courts, depending on the weather.  If not, start time will be at 9:00 a.m. at Kingston Indoor.

Admission to all tennis sites is free of charge.

Official results will be compiled and distributed by Arcadia University. The official tournament website, which will include lineups, results, and other tournament information, can be accessed at: http://www.arcadia.edu/athletics/default.aspx?id=27780

King's will enter six players in the singles tournament as well as three doubles squads.

Competing in singles flights one-through-six respectively will be Jillian Tallarico (6-6), Courtnay Wilson (6-5), Christy Rossowski (5-6), Jen Bader (3-0), Lauren Breen (6-2), and Maria Cometa (6-5). King's doubles lineup, flights one-through-three, include Tallarico/Diana Darby (7-5), Rossowski/Breen (8-1), and Wilson/Cometa (6-1).

King's finished the dual meet season with a 9-3 record and placed second in the MAC Freedom Conference.
