KING'S FIELD HOCKEY TEAM PLACES THREE ON ALL-FREEDOM CONFERENCE SQUAD

ANNVILLE – After leading the King's College field hockey team to the Freedom Conference championship game, three members of the King's College field hockey squad have been selected to the 2009 All-Freedom Team.

King's players selected includes sophomore forward Jenera Quinones (Wilkes-Barre/Meyers), junior midfielder Shelby Trenge (Alburtis//Brandywine Heights), and sophomore defender Holly Mannucci (Old Bridge, NJ/Red Bank Catholic).

Quinones enjoyed an outstanding second season for the Lady Monarchs, leading the team with 29 points on 13 goals and three assists while scoring six game-winning goals, including the overtime winner over Wilkes that propelled King's into the Freedom Conference title game. Quinones finished fourth in the conference in scoring at third in the conference  with an average 0.68 goals per-game. She proved to be King's go-to player on offense, taking a team-high 80 shots during the season.

Shelby Trenge
Trenge played a major role for King's in the midfield, transitioning from offense to defense while being counted on to carry the ball out of the Lady Monarch defensive third to ignite the attack. Trenge also proved to be a capable scorer, totaling nine points on three goals and three assists.

Holly Mannucci
Mannucci, meanwhile, proved to be a defensive dynamo. At 4-foot-11, Mannucci was small in stature, but large in effort. With her relentless pressure and tenacity, she was often assigned to defend the opposing team's top offensive player and consistently frustrated rival forwards. Mannucci started all 19 games on defense for King's and posted one defensive save.

"Jenera, Shelby, and Holly were all key players for us and made significant contributions to the success we achieved," King's coach Cheryl Ish stated.  "Jenera has really blossomed into a tremendous offensive player and is just beginning to reach the tremendous potential she has.  Shelby is not flashy, but a very consistent player with a lot of drive and determination.  Holly is simply a relentless defender who has an amazing competitive edge to her.  Luckily, all three players will be back next year and can hopefully take us to the next level."
