King's Cross Country in NCAA Mid-East Regionals

KING'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS SET FOR NCAA MID-EAST REGIONALS AT LEHIGH
 
WILKES-BARRE – Members of the King's College cross country team will look to earn an NCAA Division III National Tournament berth on Saturday at NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships at Lehigh University in Bethlehem. The women's 6K race begins at 11:00 a.m. with the men's 8K contest to follow at 12:00 noon.

King's will be led by the trio of sophomore Molly Brown and juniors Tori Posatko and Heather Elphick who paced the team to a sixth-place finish at MAC's. Brown was the top King's finisher, placing 17th among a field of 129 MAC finishers with a time of 25:48.4. Posatko was 20th overall running a 25:50.98.  Other King's runners include  Elphick was 27th at 26:10.38. Brown and Posatko were rewarded for their finishes by being named to the MAC All-Star Team. Other King's runners include Shannon McGowan (46th at MAC's), Kirstie Nicol (59th), Madeline Schiminger (64th), Heather Elphick (89th), Rachel Barto (101st), and Hannah Eckles (123rd).
 
The Monarch men, meanwhile, were 10th at the MAC Championships and were led by Brandon Sweeney who placed 58th among a field of 134 runners with a time of 30:50.28 in the 8,000-meter event. Greg Kelly was 70th at 31:27.30 while Jeff Cort finished 80th with a time of 32:08.88. Patrick Sammon was the Monarchs' fourth best runner at 32:36.29 to place 82nd.

Other Monarchs at MAC's included Jay Falcone ( 97th), Patrick Gramling finished (101st ), Chris Thompson  (106th), Rob Santopietro (107th), Dan Byrne (114th). Gary Schemel (125th), and Chris Tobias (126th).
