WILKES-BARRE – King's College football standout Mike Verbitski (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) has been named to the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference Southeast Region All-Star Team.

A 6-2, 205-pound wide receiver, Verbitski recently concluded one of the finest individual seasons in King's football history. His 20 career touchdown receptions are the most ever at King's. He also caught a school-record three touchdown passes in one game on two occasions. Verbitski  concluded his career with 113 receptions and 1,753 receiving yards, both ranking second in King's history. He was a first-team All-MAC selection.

On December 5, Verbitski played in the North-South Senior Football Classic in Salem, Va., helping the North squad to a 14-0 victory.

“We are very happy Mike has again been honored for the outstanding year he enjoyed,” Jim Anderson, interim head coach at King's stated. “He has been a product of hard work and a tremendous commitment to the weight room.  Mike made up his mind that he wanted to become a top-notch football player at this level and did the necessary work to reach that goal. It always great to see a player rewarded for the time and effort they put in to get there.”
