KING’S SWIMMING SPLITS A CLOSE MEET WITH WELLS COLLEGE

WILKES- BARRE - - The King’s College swimming team split a very close meet with Wells College in a very competitive meet at Scandlon Gym on Saturday. The women’s team picked up the 107-80 victory as the men’s squad dropped the 23-122 decision, but were able to make a few events very close against the Wells College Express.
The Lady Monarchs started the meet in a very strong fashion as Amanda Casey, Krystna Homanko, Susie Hughes and Carissa Cook captured the 400-yard medley relay. Maggie Nealer won two events in the 1650-yard free and the 500-yard free with times of 19:36.46 and 5:49.66 respectivley. Nealer would later lead the team of Stephanie Hughes, Susie Hughes and Becca Smith to a 400-yard freestyle relay win with a 4:25.86 time.
Homanko also had a strong day in the pool placing first in the 200-yard free and the 500-yard free with times of 2:18.39 and 3:02.96. Cook won the 100-yard free with a time of 1:02.80 while Amanda Casey picked up the victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:33.92. Susie Hughes finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a 2:43.44 in a very tight race while Smith placed second in the 200-yard backstroke in another tight contest with a time of 2:36.26 with the two ladies being mere seconds away from victory.
As for the men they were led by Eric Stencovage who placed second in the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard backstroke with times of 2:16.162:32.99. Matthew Lysy finished in second in two events as well as he placed in the 50-yard free and the 500-yard free with times of 27.08 and 6:42.98. Caleb Farrell had a solid showing placing second in the 200-yard free with a time of 2:20.40 while also placing third in the 200-yard backstroke with a 2:47.39.
