KING’S ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT TO HOST SENIOR AWARDS LUNCHEON SATURDAY
WILKES-BARRE – The King’s College athletic department will honor 57 student-athletes for their dedication and efforts when the annual Senior Awards Luncheon is held Saturday, May 16 at 12:00 noon in the Sheehy-Farmer Student Center. The event is part of the 2009 Commencement Weekend as King’s holds graduation on Sunday, May 17 at the Wachovia Arena in Wilkes-Barre.
Each graduating student-athlete will be honored with a “senior gift”, while the college will present a series of awards.
King’s will present the Eastern College Athletic Conference Merit Awards, an honor bestowed to deserving student-athletes based on a combination of athletic and academic achievement. The ECAC permits one senior member of each team to be nominated for the award. Also, the college will present the Female and Male Scholar-Athletes of the Year to the individuals posting the top grade-point average. Finally, the Female and Male Athlete of the Year will be presented to the top athletes at King’s as determined by a vote of each of the athletic department’s head coaches.
The annual John Dorish Award will also be presented to a non-athlete at King’s who has made significant contributions to the King’s athletic department.
