KING'S PLACES 38 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON MAC SPRING ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
ANNVILLE – A total of 39 King's College student-athletes have been named to the 2009 Middle Atlantic Conference Spring All-Academic Team, the MAC Office announced Monday. In order to be nominated for selection, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.20 overall grade-point average and be at least a sophomore in class standing. Freshmen are not eligible for selection.
Combined with fall and winter sports, King's athletic department had a combined total of 101 MAC All-Academic selections during the 2008-09 academic year.
King's total of 39 selections posted the fourth largest number of selections among the 16 MAC colleges, and was the most among all MAC schools that do not field a varsity track and field team as a spring sport.
The Monarch baseball team had nine players selected, including Andrew DiGiacomo, Peter Fanning, Gracjan Kraszewski, Eric Matula, Phil Moskowitz, Tommy Rozelle, Mat Unger, Matt Van Stone, and Jon Venarchick.
King's women's tennis team also had nine selections, including Megan Anascavage, Jennifer Bader, Lauren Breen, Maria Cometa, Rachel Hoffnagel, Chrissy Rossowski, Jillian Tallarico, Lindsay Warburton, and Courtnay Wilson.
The Freedom Conference champion softball team had seven players chosen, including Meaghan Galvin, Lindsey Hoerner, Abbey Knoblauch, Becky Loring, Jacquie O'Brien, Christie Parfitt, and Sue Roccia.
Seven members of the men's tennis team were also named, including Blake Bonser, David Chen, Jonathan Ferrie, Joe Guza, David Kaluzavich, Povl Schmidt, and Marco Stallone.
Four players were chosen from King's men's lacrosse team, including Dan Carducci, Richard Lanahan, Alan Matusiewicz, and Sean Rulon.
The men's golf team had two players selected, including Mike Kane and Mike Wagner.
Women's lacrosse was represented by Christina Glenn as its sole selection.
