KING'S SWIMMERS BREAK THREE MORE SCHOOL RECORDS DURING DAY-TWO OF MACF CHAMPIONSHIPS

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College swim team broke three more school records during the second day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships Saturday at the Wilkes-Barre Catholic Youth Center. With three new marks, King's swimmers have set five new program records thus far with one day remaining.
 
After 24 total events, the Lady Monarchs stand in eighth place with 131 points while the men's squad is 10th with five points.
 
King's best showing came in the women's 800-freestyle relay where the team of Maggie Nealer, Carissa Cook, Becca Smith, and Krystna Homanko placed fifth with a new school-record time of 8:43.17, surpassing the previous King's record of 8:52.2 set last season.
 
In the 200 medley relay, King's team of Amanda Casey, Susie Hughes, Homanko, and Smith finished seventh by swimming a 2:06.72.
 
In the women's 400 individual medley, Nealer was 11th with a 5:13.12 after posting school-record 5:12.26 in the qualifying round. Nealer broke the previous Lady Monarch record of 5:17.91 set during the 2007-08 campaign
 
Smith finished 10th in the 200-freestyle, twice breaking the school-record in the event. She swam a record 2:06.82 in the preliminary round, then broke the record in the finals with a 2:06.45. She bettered the previous King's record of 2:07.80 set a year ago.
 
Amanda Casey checked in at 13th place in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:08.84 after posting a 1:07.24 in the qualifying round.
 
For the men, in the 100-breaststroke, Eric Stencovage finished 12th with a 1:03.86 after posting a 1:03.20 in the qualifying round. 
 
The final day of the MAC Championships will begin Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
