19TH RANKED KING’S WRESTLERS SWEEP TRI-MEET OVER MESSIAH, MORRISVILLE
WILKES-BARRE – The 19th ranked King’s College wrestling improved its record to 15-9 as the host Monarchs swept a tri-meet from Messiah College and SUNY-Morrisville Saturday in Scandlon Gym. King’s defeated Messiah 22-12 in its first matchup before downing SUNY-Morrisville 39-6 in its second matchup of the day.
Tony Miele (14-9) went 2-0 on the day for King’s, posting am 11-2 major decision and a pin at 133-pounds. Frankie Davis (16-9) also won both his matches by a 3-2 decision and a 19-3 technical fall. At 157, King’s Taylor Green improved his team-best record to 21-4 with a 3-1 decision and a 17-0 technical fall.
David Foley (14-10) was also 2-0, tallying a decision and a major decision on the day. Peter Dwyer (17-6) was a two-time winner for the Monarchs, posting a 3-0 decision and recording a pin in 1:50. At 285, Chris Rash (16-5) won his first match by injury default, then scored a pin in 3:40.
Mike Tabasco and Chris Puorro also contributed by going 1-1 on the day for the Monarchs.
Messiah bested Morrisville 36-9 in the other match of the day.
King’s will wrap up its dual meet season on Friday when the Monarchs face 15th ranked Wilkes in a matchup of nationally-ranked cross-town rivals.
