KING’S SWIM TEAMS EARN SCHOLAR ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The King’s College women’s and men’s swimming teams have been ranked among the top academic squads in the nation as both teams were selected to the College Swim Coaches Association Division III Scholar All-American Team for the Fall 2009 semester.
Teams were selected based on combined overall team grade-point averages after the first semester. To be eligible for selection, teams must have earned a minimum 3.0 combined grade-point average, The King’s women’s teams was ranked 20th among 89 teams selected with a 3.41 team grade-point average. The men’s squad was ranked 12th among 56 teams chose with a combined 3.29 GPA.
Additionally, both King’s women’s and men’s squads were the highest ranked academic teams in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Other MAC teams included, on the women’s side, Lycoming (63rd) with a 3.22 GPA and Messiah (89th) with a 3.0 GPA. For the men, Messiah (47th) was the only other MAC program to be honored.
"It is a great honor for both our women's and men's teams to be recognized as Scholar Academic All-Americans, King’s head coach Matt Easterday stated. “ Division III athletics is all about the true student-athlete and this honor goes to show that both teams really dedicated themselves during the Fall semester not only in the pool, but in the classroom as well. We look forward to continuing this success in the future."
