PAIGE CARLIN NAMED SECOND-TEAM ALL-FREEDOM CONFERENCE

ANNVILLE – King's College women's basketball standout Paige Carlin has been named to the 2010 All-Freedom Conference squad as a second-team selection, the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office announced Monday.

A sophomore guard, Carlin led a young Lady Monarch team comprised solely of first and second-year players to a 13-12 record as King's came within one game of reaching the Freedom Conference Tournament semi-finals.  Her efforts we particularly important to a King's team which lost two starters to injury during the year and had two other regular contributors miss

A 5-9 guard-forward, Carlin started all 25 games for King's and led the Lady Monarchs in scoring with 11.7 points per-game, while adding 4.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.4 steals. She also contributed by making 19 three-pointers and shot 71.1 (91-128) from the foul line.

Carlin scored in double figures in each of the final 14 games of the year and posted a career-high 23 points on December 8 at Rutgers-Camden. During the season she led King's in total points (291),  field goals made (91), free throws made (91), and steals (59).

“We are very excited for Paige as she had a really good sophomore year in which she served as a team captain on a really young squad,” King's coach Brian Donoghue stated. “Paige worked hard in the off-season and greatly improved her all-around game. She scored in more ways, made strides in three-point shooting, and improved her ability to get to the basket and draw fouls. She is the kind of player who wants to get batter and we expect even more improvement out of her next season.”
