KEVIN CONROY REPEATS WITH FIRST-TEAM ALL-FREEDOM CONFERENCE SELECTION
ANNVILLE — King’s College men’s basketball standout Kevin Conroy has been named to the 2010 All-Freedom Conference Team as a first-team choice. It marked the second straight season the Monarch junior center was selected to the first team.
Conroy led King’s to a 12-14 overall record and a 8-6 Freedom Conference mark as the Monarchs advanced to the semi-finals of the league tournament. A 6-5 junior center-forward, Conroy started all 26 games for King’s and led the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.9 points and 6.0 boards per-contest. Additionally, Conroy added 44 assists and 17 steals on the year.
The focal point of opposing team’s defensive strategies, Conroy managed to score in double-figures in 22 of the Monarchs 26 games during the season. He finished seventh in the Freedom Conference scoring and was sixth in rebounding. He also ranked fifth in the conference in field goal percentage, making 50.4 (132-262) percent of his shots.
Conroy scored a season-high 25 points on November 20 against Steven’s Tech while also tallying a season-best 13 boards January 6 against Centenary College. In three years with the Monarchs, Conroy has totaled 948 points with his senior year remaining.
“Kevin again enjoyed another excellent season but this year was more challenging to him as he was the one player opponents really geared up to stop and he had to deal with constant double and triple teams,” King’s coach J.P. Andrejko stated. “ Kevin rose to the challenge and was very consistent throughout the year. He never got frustrated over the attention he received from opposing defenses and calmly would pass the ball to open teammates rather than force bad shots with defenders all over him. He is the ultimate team player who cares more about the team than he does individual stats and honors. We look forward to having him back for one final season.”
