CHALLENGER DIVISION BASEBALL GAME SET AT KING'S

(Event in memory of former King's Asst. Coach Rob Cardoni)

WILKES-BARRE -- The  King's College baseball team has a key Freedom Conference series this Friday and Saturday against Manhattanville, but the team will cut practice short on Thursday evening to host an even more important event.

The Monarchs will host the Wyoming Valley Challenger Division Baseball League for an evening of fun, food and games at Betzler Fields on Thursday April 29th at 6:00 p.m.

This is an event that the King's baseball team has organized for the past eight years to assist the local league. This event has become an evening that is not only enjoyed by the Challenger players, but is also cherished by the King's players as one of their most rewarding experiences as college students.

Challenger division baseball is a league that is designed for children that experience physical and/or mental challenges and want to enjoy the game of baseball. King's players take an active role at the event, aiding the children as they bat, run the bases, or play the field.

The event is held in memory of former King's assistant baseball coach Rob Cardoni, who passed away in December of 2005. He was an avid supporter of Challenger baseball, and helped organize the first event in 2003. Family, friends and former players of Coach Cardoni donated over $ 4,000.00 over the years in his memory to help support the local challenger league.

For a fun and rewarding experience please come out and help cheer on these super athletes in what King's coach Jerry Greeley terms as "the most important game that is played in the Wyoming Valley all year."

Members of the King's community, and residents of the Wyoming Valley, are invited to attend . It will be a time to be remembered.
