KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS MESSIAH, 5-4
GRANTHAM -- Diana Darby broke a 4-4 tie by winning the final singles match of the day as the King's College women's tennis team posted a 5-4 victory over host Messiah College Wednesday in Grantham.
King's took a 2-1 lead after doubles as Darby and Jillian Tallarico posted a 8-2 win and the team of Lauren Breen and Rachel Hoffnagel tallied an 8-4 triumph. Messiah won three singles matches, but Tallarico and Breen also posted singles victories as King's tied the score at 4-4.
Darby lost the first set 2-6, but rallied to capture the second set 7-5. In the third set battle, Darby again won a close battle, emerging with a 6-4 triumph to give the Lady Monarchs the victory.
