KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO WIDENER, 19-5

WILKES-BARRE -- Jackie Elliott scored six goals and added an assist as the visiting Widener University women's lacrosse team posted a 19-5 victory over host King's College Thursday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win, Widener improved to 11-5 overall and 8-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference while KIng's slipped to 0-16 and 0-11 in league games.

Elliott had plenty of help in the game as Julia Costello followed with three goals and five assists, Jen Harnden tallied three goals and four assists, while Rachel Porter chipped in with three goals.

King's had plenty of chances in the game and outshot 33-28 in the game. Many of those shots, however, went directly into the stick webbing of Pride goalie Lauren Staedt, who made 15 saves in the contest.

Chelsea Manes paced King's with two goals and an assist while Andrea Alesso followed with two scores. Krystina Villareal, Allison Gourniak, and Colleen Davis all contributed one goal.  Megan Munday made nine saves in the contest.

King's also owned a 29-23 advantage in ground balls while the Pride held a 20-7 lead in draws.

King's wraps up its season Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home contest against Wilkes University at McCarthy Stadium.
