TALLARICO WINS #1 FLIGHT AT MARYWOOD INVITATIONAL
SCRANTON -- Marywood University won the inaugural spring women’s tennis tournament after claiming 9 of 12 first place awards from two different flights. The Pacers competed against King’s College and Keystone College in the first annual Marywood Women’s Tennis Invitational this past Saturday. Marywood scored 38 points, Kings scored 21 points, and Keystone 19 points.
Jillian Tallarico from King’s won the 1-singles A-Flight title with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Shiloh Richner of Keystone. Lindsay Warburton took home the 4-singles B-Flight championship with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Marywood's Aubrey Klesh.
In the A-Flight, King's Nicole Molio and Megan Anascavage were second. In the B-Flight, King's Diana Darby, Cynthia Darby, Nicole Buckman, and Melissa Zipperlin were each second in their respective flights.
Marywood's Beth Schneider, Lindsay Burke, Nicole Siddall and Kellie Coleman all won titles in the A-Flight while Ashley Karli, Jess Brogna, Kristin Guba, Elizabeth Sullivan and Lauren Fersch all won B-Flight titles to give Marywood nine victories on the day.
The Pacers will retain the MWTI Crystal Ball for one year after having the highest team point total.
