WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College cross country team is hosting the 4th Annual Parker Palermo Memorial 5K Run/Walk in Kirby Park on Sunday, August 1st @ 10:00 a.m.

Palermo, a 2003 King's graduate and former Monarch cross country runner, passed away suddenly on September 11, 2006. Proceeds are benefiting 4 Paws Spay & Neuter Program in Wilkes-Barre. In each of the last three years, the race has raised over $2,200 for 4 Paws.
Palermo, who resided in Spencerport, New York, participated in cross country for three seasons at King's. An avid runner, he completed his first marathon, the Reckson Long Island Marathon, on May 7, 2006. Palermo worked at Plains Animal Hospital as a Vet-Tech, with hopes of going to Veterinary School. He had a great love for animals, often fostering numerous cats, dogs, and even a lamb until he found a good home for them.
