KING'S HAMMONDS NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE – King's College freshman Kyle Hammonds has been named the Freedom Conference Men's Basketball “Player of the Week”, the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office announced on Monday.

Hammonds enjoyed the finest week of his young career as the Monarch freshman stepped up his level of play following the loss of two key players.  In a 99-53 victory of Albany Pharmacy, Hammonds had two career-highs with 25 points and five three-pointers.  In a  76-66 Freedom Conference road win over an FDU-Florham team which swept King's last season, Hammonds promptly bettered the aforementioned career-highs with 30 points and six three-pointers. For the week he averaged 27.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 53.6 (15-28) percent from the field, 61.1 (11-18) percent from three-point range, and 82.3 (14-17) percent from the foul line.

The Monarch rookie has started all 12 games at shooting guard this season and is second on the team in scoring with a 12.9 points per-game average, including 3.6 rebounds, 21 assists, and 18 steals. He also tops the team with 25 three-pointers on the year.

Hammonds and his Monarch teammates will return to action Wednesday when the Monarchs host Delaware Valley College in an important Freedom Conference matchup at 8:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
