ANNVILLE — Former King's College athletic standout Ed Kopec (Forty Fort/Wyoming Valley West) has been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Centurn Men's Cross Country Team, the MAC announced Tuesday.

As a part of the MAC 100-year celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference is recognizing top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era.  Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship.

The number of individuals selected per-team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote. Team members will receive a commemorative gold coin, distributed to their alma matter. Century Teams will be announced at the conclusion of each respective sport season.

Kopec was selected in the 2003-2011 era.

Kopec enjoyed an outstanding career for King's in which he was a three-time All-MAC selection from 2005-through 2007. Kopec placed fourth in the 2005 MAC championships as a sophomore. He then finished 14th at the 2006 conference championship meet. As a senior in 2007 he placed sixth.

Kopec was also an outstanding student, earning three berths on the MAC All-Academic Team and was named King's 2007-08 Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition, he was named the 2008 Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
