ANNVILLE — A pair of former King's College standouts have been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Century Men's Soccer Team, the MAC announced Tuesday. Those selected from King's include Ryan Symons (Wilkes-Barre/Coughlin) and Joey Bender (Shirley, NY/William Floyd).

As a part of the MAC 100-year celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference is recognizing top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era.  Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship.

The number of individuals selected per-team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote. Team members will receive a commemorative gold coin, distributed to their alma matter. Century Teams will be announced at the conclusion of each respective sport season.

Both Symons and Bender were named to the 2003-2011 era.  Both were teammates in 2008 when the Monarchs enjoyed their finest season ever, finishing the year with  16-1-5 mark while winning the post-season ECAC Southeast Regional Tournament. Symonds was a senior captain on King's championship team while Bender was a freshman.

Ryan Symons
Symons was a standout defender for the Monarchs from 2005-08 and earned All-Freedom Conference honors in both the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He played in 70 games throughout his King's career on defense and totaled 17 points on seven goals and three assists.

Joey Bender
Bender  was a four-year starter at King's from 2008-11 and was awarded All-Freedom Conference honors during the 2009 and 2010 campaigns. Bender finished his Monarch career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 106 total points. His 38 goals is third on King's all-time career list while his 30 assists stands as the Monarchs' career record 30 assists.
