KING'S CROSS COUNTRY HOSTING 6TH ANNUAL PARKER PALERMO MEMORIAL RUN/WALK AUGUST 5

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College head cross country coach Mike Kolinovsky has announced the team is hosting the 6th Annual Parker Palermo Memorial 5K Run/Walk in Kirby Park on Sunday, August 5 at 10:00 a.m. 

Registration on race-day is set from 8:30 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. at Kirby Park. The entry fee is $13 per runner if paid in advance and must be postmarked by July 31. Registration on race-day will be $15.00 per-runner.
 
Palermo, a 2003 King's graduate and former Monarch cross country runner, passed away suddenly on September 11, 2006.  Proceeds are benefiting Blue Chip Animal Farms Refuge in Dallas, Pa. In each of the last five years, the race has raised over $2,200.

Palermo, who grew up in Spencerport, New York, participated in cross country for three seasons at King's. An avid runner, he completed his first marathon, the Reckson Long Island Marathon, on May 7, 2006. Palermo worked at Plains Animal Hospital as a Vet-Tech, with hopes of going to Veterinary School. He had a great love for animals, often fostering numerous cats, dogs, and even a lamb until he found a good home for them.

Sponsorship opportunities are available as follows, but any donation is appreciated:
1)  Bronze Donation:  $25.00 – Sponsors name in program.
2)  Silver Donation:  $50.00 – Sponsors name in program and at the race day registration table.
3)  Gold Donation:  $100.00 – Sponsors name in program, on back of T-shirt & race day registration tables.
4)  Platinum Donation:  $200.00 – Sponsors name in program, race day registration tables, back of T-Shirts, and Mile Marker signs.

Gift Certificates from Sponsors organization are welcomed.  They will be given away to the top finishers in each division and also as raffle prizes.  Entry forms are also obtainable on the Internet at www.neparunner.com under August calendars.
