KING'S MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS MISERICORDIA, 1-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Andrew Tuminello scored the lone goal of the game 4:14 into the second half as the King's College men's soccer team posted an important 1-0 Freedom Conference victory over Misericordia University Wednesday at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win, King's improved to 7-3-3 overall and 2-1 in the Freedom Conference while Misericordia slipped to 9-4 and 2-1 in league play.
After a scoreless first half, King's got on the scoreboard when Daniel Hernandez sent a crossing pass from deep on the right wing which Tuminello buried inside the far post for what proved to be the winning goal.
Both teams had chances over the rest of the contest but either could muster a score.
Each team had 12 shots while the Monarchs held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
Monarch goalie Mark Labbadia picked up the win, making one save while Cougar keeper Barry Fitzgerald had two stops.
King's returns to the field Saturday when the Monarchs host Manhattanville at 7:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
