King's Wrestler Split a Pair of Matches in the PA/NY City Duals

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College wrestling team split a pair of matches scoring a 31-18 victory over Hunter and dropping a 31-20 decision to NYU.

In the bout with Hunter the Monarchs fell behind 18-0 after Kenny Albert pinned Jamie Scarantino at 125 and the Eagles claimed a pair of forfeits at 133 and 141. At 149 Chris Mazzocchi got King's back on track with a pin of Tim McCann at the 3:57 mark.

Gordan Custer won 8-0 at 157 and Tommy Desir and Angelo Lussi each picked up decisions at 165 and 174. Tyler McGuigan and Elijah Gresham picked up pins sandwiching a Ryan Longenberger decision to set the final at 31-18.

Against NYU the Monarchs were shorthanded giving up forfeits at 133, 141, and 184. King's got one of those forfeits back at 125. Mazzocchi tallied a major decision at 149 and Desir notched an 8-4 victory at 165.

McGuigan put King's up 20-15, but the forfeit at 184 as well as a John Klein dropped a major decision at 197 and the Violets got a pin from Anthony Chu to seal the win.

The Monarchs are back  in action on Wednesday when they host the College of New Jersey at 7:00 p.m. at Scandlon Gymnasium.
