KING'S SOFTBALL, MEN'S LACROSSE HAVE MUCH TO PLAY FOR ON SATURDAY TENNIS TEAMS PREP FOR POST-SEASON
(Baseball, Women's Lacrosse Playing Final Games)
WILKES-BARRE — Saturday marks the final day of the regular-season for a number of King's College sports teams. Three teams have already clinched conference tournament berths with a fourth hoping to secure a spot of its own Saturday.
The King's men's and women's tennis teams have both clinched the second seed in next week's Freedom Conference Team Tournament. Both squads wrap up the regular-season Saturday at home with respective 1:00 p.m. matchups against conference foe Eastern University. Regardless of the outcome, both King's men's and women's teams are locked into the second seed and will host first-round tournament matches next week.
The men's Freedom Conference Tournament semi-finals will be held Tuesday while the women's semi-finals are slated for Wednesday. Both King's matches will be hosted at Kirby Park.
King's softball team will have a high matchup at DeSales University as the both teams are tied for first-place in the Freedom Conference with the top seed for next week's league tournament at stake. Both teams are 11-1 in the Freedom Conference and can do no worse than second-place.
If either teams sweeps both games, it will gain the top-seed but if the squads split, King's will be declared the top-seed by virtue of the conference's tie-breaking criteria. King's would gain the nod by virtue of its series sweep of third-place Manhattanville while DeSales and Manhattanville split their two-game series. The Lady Monarchs would then face fourth-seeded FDU-Florham in the tournament opener next Friday.

The Monarch lacrosse team (9-3, 3-2 Freedom) greatly complicated matters for itself when the Monarchs failed to clinch the second seed on Wednesday, falling to DeSales 11-6. The loss locked King's into a three-way tie for second place with DeSales and Misericordia, all with 3-2 league marks and four teams earning playoff berths. If the Monarchs win on the road Saturday in its 1:00 p.m. matchup at fifth-place FDU-Florham (4-11/2-3), King's will clinch a playoff berth. If the Monarchs lose, they are eliminated and FDU will gain the fourth seed. If King's wins and Misericordia falls to Arcadia, the Monarchs gain the third seed.

DeSales, meanwhile, is tied atop the conference with a 27-8 record as well as a 15-3 league mark.
