KING'S MEN'S TENNIS PLACES FIVE ON MAC ALL-CENTURY TEAM

ANNVILLE — The King's College men's tennis program had five players named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Century Team, the MAC Office has announced.

As a part of the MAC 100 celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference recognizes top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to Century Teams in each sport from each era. Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship. The number of individuals selected per team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote. Team members will receive a commemorative gold coin, distributed to their alma matter for distribution.

In the 1984-1993 era, KIng's players chosen included NCAA Division III national tournament qualifiers Bill Mendler and Mike Ungvarsky. In the 1994-2003 era, MAC champion Vlad Handl was selected. King's had two players named in the 2004-2012 era, including five-time MAC champion Mike Portonova (3 singles/2 doubles) and two-time MAC doubles champion Nick Hojsack.
