Box Score King's Opens Season with 0-0 Tie with Cabrini
Wilkes-Barre, Pa. -- The King's College men's soccer team opened the 2013 season with a hard-fought 0-0 double-overtime tie with Cabrini Friday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
Cabrini, the defending Colonial States Athletic Conference champions, came out of the gates fast out shooting the Monarchs 5-2 in the first half, but none of the shots were on goal. Cabrini carried the play for most of the second half holding 9-4 shot advantage at the end of regulation.
The Monarchs fired back in the overtime session holding Cabrini without a shot while taking five. The Monarchs best overtime chance came with just over two minutes remaining in the second extra session when
Eric Stanfield headed a free kick that was saved by Eric Nowicki and
Mike Smart shot the rebound high.
David Stroh led King's with a pair of shots one on goal, while Bobby Kane notched three shots for the Cavaliers.

Mark Labbadia earned his first shutout of the season making two saves while Nowicki stopped three shots for Cabrini.
The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday when they host Elizabethtown at 2:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
