KING'S HARNISCHFEGER NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE — King's College senior softball standout Jenn Harnischfeger (Nanticoke/Nanticoke Area) has been selected the Freedom Conference Softball "Player of the Week", the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office announced Monday.

A returning NFCA All-Region choice and three-time All-Freedom selection at shortstop, Harnischfeger led King's to a 6-2 season start on its Spring Break Trip to Myrtle Beach, SC last week.

As King's leadoff hitter, she batted .391 (9-23) with a .826 slugging percentage, including four doubles, two home runs, four RBI, stole five bases, and scored 13 runs in eight games. Harnischfeger also drew nine walks to produce an outstanding .563 on-base average.  

In an 8-0 win over LaRoche, she went 2-for-2 with two walks, a home run, and scored two runs. In an 11-0 triumph over Cabrini, she was 3-for-4 with three runs scored, a home run, and double. She hit safely in six of the eight games she played still managed to make an impact in the two games she did not register a base hit. In going 0- 1 against Iowa Wesleyan she drew three walks, stole two bases, and scored two runs in a 2-1 win. In a 13-8 win in KIng's second meeting with LaRoche, she was 0-for-3 but drew two more walks, stole two more bases, and score two runs in a KIng's victory.  

The Lady Monarchs only losses came at the hands Cardinal Stritch Universityn an NAIA scholarship program from Minnesota. King's followed up with six straight wins after dropping their season-opening doubleheader to Stritch.
