KING'S MEN'S LAXERS FALL TO TOP-SEEDED EASTERN IN FREEDOM SEMI-FINALS

ST. DAVIDS -- Defending champion and top-seeded Eastern University built a 7-3 halftime led,  then outscored visiting King's College 10-1 in the second half as the host Eagles posted a 17-4 victory in the semi-finals of the Freedom Conference Tournament Wednesday in St. Davids.

With the win, eastern advances to Saturday's title game while King's sees its season end with a 6-8 record.

King's scored first just 1:39 into the game when Evan Lawshe found the back of the net unassisted. After the Eagles took a 2-1 lead, the Monarchs knotted the score at 1-1 when Brock Johnson scored a man-up goal with 3:03 left in the opening period.

Eastern, however, scored the next five goals to go ahead 7-2 with 3:49 remaining in the second period before the Monarchs countered with Johnson's second goal of the game just 0:39 later as Eastern took a 7-3 lead into the locker room.

In the third period the Monarchs trimmed the lead to 7-4 on a score from Reed Jimenez at the 11:05 mark. But it was all eastern the rest of the way as the Eagles outscored King's 10-0 the rest of the way.

Eastern outshot King's 46-20 and held a 24-17 advantage in ground balls. Eastern benefited from winning 14-of-23 face-offs, including 8-of-12 in the second half.

King's goalie William Pokorny made 17 saves in net.
