KING'S HOSTING 10TH ANNUAL PARKER PALERMO RUN/WALK TO BENEFIT LAURA'S HOPE RESCUE

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College head cross country coach Mike Kolinovsky has announced the team is hosting the 10th Annual Parker Palermo Memorial 5K Run / 2 Mile Walk in Kirby Park on Sunday, September 25 at 9:30 a.m. at Kirby Park.

Registration on race-day is set from 7:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. near the Kirby Park Tennis Courts. The entry fee is $16 per-runner if paid in advance and must be postmarked by September 17. Registration on race-day will be $22.00 per-runner.

The race will benefit Laura's Hope Rescue, a dog rescue facility in Hop Bottom, Pa.

Palermo, a 2003 King's graduate and former Monarch cross country runner, passed away suddenly on September 11, 2006.  In each of the last nine years, the race has raised over $2,000 each year.

Palermo, who grew up in Spencerport, New York, participated in cross country for three seasons at King's. An avid runner, he completed his first marathon, the Reckson Long Island Marathon, on May 7, 2006. Palermo worked at Plains Animal Hospital as a Vet-Tech, with hopes of going to Veterinary School. He had a great love for animals, often fostering numerous cats, dogs, and even a lamb until he found a good home for them.

Sponsorship opportunities are available as follows, but any donation is appreciated:
Bronze Donation - $25.00 – Sponsors name in program.
Silver Donation - $50.00 – Sponsors name in program and at race day registration tables.
Gold Donation - $100.00 – Sponsors name in program, race day registration tables, and on the back of T-Shirts.
Platinum Donation - $150.00 - Sponsors name in program, race day registration tables, and on the back of T-Shirts, and Mile Marker Signs.
