About King's Swimming

12926The swimming program at King's has made great strides in recent years and is expected to take even bigger steps as head coach Matt Easterday enters his ninth season at the helm after being hired in October of 2009.  Having been around the sport since childhood, Easterday grew up in a family of swimmers. His mother Kim spent 33 years as the head swim coach at McDaniel College before retiring following the 2009-10 season.

Over the past eight years the program has made great strides as virtually every swimmer has set personal best times while a number of new school-record times have been set during this time. In fact, 35 of King's current 38 school-records for men and women have been set during Easterday's tenure, including all 19 women's records.

The 2010-11 MAC Championships proved to be one for the history books as Patricia Manning became the first-ever female individual champion capturing the crown in the 400 IM. In all, 15 school records were set during that three-day championship meet. It was a sign of things to come. King's swimmers set 10 more records in the 2014 MAC Championships; added 18 more top marks in 2015; then registered 10 more school standards in 2016.  In the 2017 MAC Championships, the team set a program-high 26 new school records as freshman Kirsten Siwy won the conference title in the 400 IM.

12916King's swimmers have traditionally excelled in the classroom as 122 team members have been named to the MAC Academic Honor Roll since 1993-94 for posting a minimum 3.20 grade-point average.

Team members practice and compete in King's Pool in Scandlon Gymnasium and swim in approximately 12 meets during the season. The team also hosts the annual Diamond City Invitational in mid-November.  Monarch swimmers also take a yearly trip to Florida over semester break for a week of training. At the conclusion of the regular season, King's swimmers compete in the annual Middle Atlantic Conference Championships.
